I discovered this via some videos on YT about 2 years ago, attempted to get involved but was having connection issues and then real world issues so never got back til now. This time, now with a new VR ready gaming machine, I headed right back to "shop" copybot mart - in exchange for what's intended as a monthly $4.99 subscription which I don't mind one bit.

I don't hang out in SL anymore. I use Open Sim predominantly and only occasionally grid hop. I've got a personal grid going that's kind of outside the scope of general SL/OS chat goes.

So, point being, I've been super excited about joining this community and enjoying the goods...thieving or not, and wanted to support it.

But every single item I've downloaded has been bogus garbage or I'm doing something wrong. The problem is most of the tutorials seem to be outdated or missing, or in some other broken language I can't really make out. The files have no textures included so everything's white. That makes it all useless. Tons of eyes and not a damn texture one. Seriously?

The videos are a couple years old, blurry, and without any actual instructions - just somebody zipping through whatever the fuck they're doing...in all of 43 seconds.

Here's my humble request - help me sort these out, import these things correctly with a get started lesson that's functional in 2017, not 2009...

These items need to be textured, scripted where available, or otherwise functional and useful to justify any actual monthly cost. I don't mind paying it - but these items need to be useful.

I can download and extract them, import/upload them...but the UUID stuff doesn't work for OS, the rest of the stuff - mesh or not is always white, there's not a single texture for these items in anything I downloaded. Makes me think whoever's putting this up isn't actually going about it correctly.

So...can you help me get these usable since this is the transaction I subscribed to?

Thanks!

+1 There is currently no tutorial on the correct way to rip a building with textures, any steps in blender, and how to bring back into SL. I think that is why when you download buildings from here, most don't have textures, because no-one knows what they are doing.

Would love for someone to post a step by written tute, I have a lot of new mesh builds I bought I would like to share :)

I am glad I am not the only one that is frustrated. I think the newest tutorial I've seen was 2014. I feel like the info is here but in so many places. Here does not seems to be a step by step guide that helps you actually get a basic understanding of what to do.

After many hours of downloading and testing on the beta grid I have managed to download and reimport 2 goats LOL in this thread

In the download I have saved the screenshots of my uploads, see if that helps you out?

Good Luck!

Extracting the buildings with textures is a trickly process and there is like a 50/50 chance of it working properly because SL Likes to said "Nope" on the upload if you're missing even one texture. ( this isnt the caste with OS tho).
The main reason you could be failing could be because of the viewer you are using.
When Exporting something like a whole build  I would suggest darkstorm because it grabs the textures along with a static mesh export.
Hereis a whole playlist on how to do it,

If it is giving you an error, import it into blender then export it as a static dae that way, sometimes DS doesn't export thing s properly.
If you are still getting errors then you'll have to break the mesh into parts
i would suggest seprating it by material, then try to upload again.
If that fails then.... I suppose it wasn't meant to be extracted.
