I'm trying to add specular and normal maps to a skin that I would then use as an applier to a mesh body. Can anyone give me advice or point me to a tutorial? Thanks in advance.

Normally you would just go into the build menu then the texture tab and select Diffuse, normal, and spec and apply the textures there. I'm not sure how it would work on those designer bodies since they are no mod.

you cant add diff,normal and spec onto an applier,sorry. youd need the mesh to be mod and add manually.

They are not put in like usual texture layers, but as Botty said they are added as an additional texture layer inside of SL.  So you will need modify rights in order to use them.

you can add spec and normal also on no-mod bodies, you need the applier creation kit from the creator.following is an example for the maitreya lara body.
you can get the kit for free at the store and it come with instructions. as far i know also other mesh body creators has similar kits, i have for catwa, AK,belleza and nx nardcotix
you have to add the textures as uuid
